Awaken & Uplift
Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of Virginia, is a world-class performing arts organization with a mission to awaken and uplift the human spirit. We were tasked with developing the brand story and executing a website redesign to better reflect their positioning as a premier dance company and school. Building off the existing logo and visual identity, we created an engaging, elevated online presence that serves as a testament to the beauty, joy and wonder that Richmond Ballet brings to communities all over the globe.

The brand story's messaging highlights the interconnectedness of Richmond Ballet and The River City. Both entities are grounded in traditions of the past, while also making space for new, forward-thinking ideas.
The dichotomy of old/new, past/future, and traditional/modern creates a positioning that is wholly unique to both Richmond and Richmond Ballet.
The brand was further brought to life through an ownable aesthetic made up of distinct graphic elements, dynamic imagery and the iconic Richmond Ballet blue.
The website features thoughtful details such as nuanced animation and subtle flourishes to capture the refined, elegant movement that is the essence of ballet.
Leveraging the defined brand positioning with inspiring language and engaging visuals, the Ballet’s identity is fully realized in the digital space, creating a brand experience consistent across all touchpoints. The site itself reinforces the organization’s promise to awaken and uplift. Upon the recent announcement of the launch, the new site immediately received over 1,000 unique users. The website will continue to be monitored to assess its impact on traffic, audience engagement, and ticket sales.
